Meet
Shaun Smith
Shaun Smith is a husband, father, and sitting school board member who has raised all four of his children in the Chino Valley Unified School District, with the youngest still enrolled today. He knows what CVUSD families care about because he lives it.
A former Computer Science teacher turned Cybersecurity professional, Shaun brings both educational experience and real-world expertise to every board decision. As a Certified First Responder and active community volunteer, he understands what true leadership means showing up every day — not just on Election Day.
Shaun is running in 2026 to continue his work for students, families, and educators — focused on fundamentals, driven by accountability, and committed to earning the community’s trust.

Academic Excellence
Shaun believes every CVUSD student deserves a rigorous, well-rounded curriculum. Strong reading, writing, mathematics, critical thinking, creativity, and a genuine love of learning are not optional — they are the core of what schools must deliver. Shaun will push for effective teaching, updated resources, and high standards that prepare every child for the future.
Safe Schools
A safe learning environment isn’t optional — it’s the foundation everything else is built on. Shaun will work to build secure campuses, strengthen partnerships with law enforcement and mental health professionals, and implement proven anti-bullying programs district-wide. Every student deserves to walk through the school doors feeling protected and supported.
Fiscal Responsibility
Taxpayer dollars must go to the classroom, not bureaucracy. Shaun is committed to transparent, publicly accessible budgets and spending decisions that reflect the community’s priorities — keeping resources where they belong. Responsible budgeting means every dollar is accountable, and every family can see exactly how their investment in CVUSD is being used.
Parental Involvement
Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. Shaun will improve communication between schools and families, ensure parents have meaningful access to curriculum and school activities, and build a district culture where parental engagement is welcomed and valued at every level. Families and schools must be true partners.
